Talk, research, and remember. On your Mac.
Tyne started with a simple observation: most of what we mean to write, we say first, and most of the context we need is scattered across notes, PDFs, spreadsheets, and meetings. Tyne brings all four into one local-first Mac app: hold Fn to dictate at your cursor, press ⌥ Space to ask your encrypted vault, drop files into Atlas for cited answers and Word/PDF/Excel exports, and transcribe meetings without bots.
Three rules we don't bend.
Dictation hears everything you say, so how it treats that is the product. These are the constraints every feature has to fit inside.
Your Mac does the listening
Speech is transcribed by Parakeet-TDT (dictation) and Whisper Large Turbo + SpeakerKit (meetings) on Apple Silicon. Raw audio is never uploaded, so dictation and meeting transcription work offline.
Your vault & documents stay yours
Notes and search indexes live in vault.enc (SQLCipher AES-256), and Atlas documents are stored as encrypted local blobs. Their master key is generated on your Mac and kept in your Keychain.
Explicit Local Only or Balanced modes
S1-mini and Loom 3B run locally inside the app. Stay 100% offline in Local Only mode, or use Balanced mode on Turbo to send only specific query excerpts, anonymized web searches, or selected screen regions through our zero-retention gateway.
In beta, on the Mac.
Tyne runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later, and ships as a signed, notarized app rather than through the App Store, because typing into other apps needs Accessibility access that the App Store sandbox blocks.
