How do Local Only and Balanced modes work?

In Local Only mode (the only mode on Free and Plus, and selectable anytime on Turbo), every workflow runs strictly on your Mac with zero network egress for your content. In Balanced mode on Turbo, dictation and vault storage remain local on your Mac, while specific Ask Tyne, Ask Atlas, live web search, or Circle to Search requests can send only the necessary text excerpts or selected screen region to Loom Turbo via our zero-retention gateway.

Why is Free really free?

Because dictation, S1-mini cleanup, and your encrypted SQLCipher vault run on your Mac hardware, they cost us nothing to serve. There is no word limit and no cloud metering on Free.

What happens if I reach the daily or monthly Turbo limit?

Turbo includes up to 150 cloud actions (or 250k tokens) per UTC day and a 5M-token monthly ceiling. If you reach either limit—or go offline—Tyne automatically routes requests to Loom 3B on your Mac so your work never stops.

How does student pricing work?

Students and researchers with a verified .edu or academic email can apply for $3.99/month pricing on Plus or Turbo. Use the Verify Student Status banner to request verification during the beta.

How do I get Tyne right now?

Tyne is currently in invite-only macOS beta. Request access on any plan and we will email your signed, notarized macOS installer and onboarding instructions as beta cohorts open.

What does our zero-retention gateway do and not do?

Our Supabase Edge Function gateway (llm-router) validates your session, reserves aggregate token quota in Postgres, and streams your prompt or selected image to our upstream inference provider (Cerebras Qwen 3.8 27B) or anonymized web query to Brave Search. Tyne never logs or stores prompts, document passages, or images on our servers.

Who processes payments, and can I cancel anytime?

When paid billing is active for your account, Dodo Payments acts as our merchant of record and handles tax and VAT. You can cancel anytime from your account billing portal or by emailing support@tyne.in, and you keep your plan until the end of the billing period you paid for.
